How to show Financial Stability as a K-1 Visa
Petitioner
Form I-134 Affidavit of Support -
The information on this form is used by the USCIS or
by a consular officer to whom it may be furnished, to support an alien’s
application for benefits under the Immigration and Nationality Act. Specifically
the assertion that he or she has adequate means of financial support an will not
become a public charge. Currently this information will be submitted to the U.S.
Consulate at the time of your Fiancée’s interview so it’s not necessary to send
in with your I-129F Petition for Alien Fiancée ("Fiancee
Visa"), so don’t send it with it your I-129F Petition.
You must present a notarized I-134 affidavit of
support with a letter from your employer on company letterhead, with date and
company name and a phone number of contact person, signed, with information
about the nature of
your employment; your salary. It should include your start date but it is not
critical. Include a few recent paystubs, in addition to an employer letter, and
a copy of your most recently filed Federal tax return and W2 copies.
You don't need a bank letter (the I-134
instructions for that item were written 25 years ago and no longer have much
relevance). Include a couple of recent bank statements and you are okay.
Remember, you do not need to be rich to be a Fiancee Visa Petitioner. You must
make at least 125% of the poverty guidelines set by the United States
government.
Along with your form I-134, it is best to include documents that show ownership
of any assets and money making accounts. If you are a homeowner, include a copy
of your deed to the home in which you and your fiancee will reside. If you rent,
include copies of bank statements to show a good history of on time payments of
your rent. Copies of these documents are sufficient. You must be prepared to
submit original documents only if USCIS (INS) decides they want to look at them.
Ask your employer for an earnings statement for you, or get a letter from your
employer stating your position in the company, and your yearly earnings.
If you follow these directions, you will be on
your way to showing your Financial Stability as a
K-1 Visa
Petitioner. All of these documents are part of the
fiancee visa requirements, including the
Philippines k1
visa, but also applies to all other countries as well.
